A record milestone for Penang Port
Four cruise ships called at the Penang Port on 14March, disembarking over 10,000 passengers in a single day at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal.
The ocean liners are Superstar Gemini, Sapphire Princess, Aida Bella and Mein Schiff 1, each carrying about 2,500 passengers. This is the first time four ships arrived within a single day.
Tourist arrival at the cruise terminal is on the rise as Penang Port gains in popularity as a must-stop among ocean liners due to its proximity to George Town’s world heritage enclave which is just a stone’s throw away. The island’s other attractions include its wall murals, multi-cultural and multi-religious attractions and, of course, its food.
Assam Laksa and Char Koay Teow have been listed as one of the world’s best street food.
where2 extends our warmest welcome to the new General Manager of Penang Port Commission Mohamad Puzi Mohamad Nazir who assumed office on 1March, 2016.
