Investment holding company Bina Darulaman Berhad is having its inaugural BDB Firefly Golf tournament at Darulaman Golf and Country Club (DGCC) in Jitra, Kedah, on November 26.
The event – an open category tournament offering prizes worth up to RM1 million, and a RM800,000 double-storey bungalow in Bandar Darulaman for the first golfer to hit a hole-in-one – is jointly organised with Malaysian community airline Firefly.
Its group managing director Datuk Izham Yusoff says the event is expected to draw professional golfers and rising stars from Malaysia and the region.
He says the event will also promote Kedah as a golf destination and a state with rich heritage and diversity to mark Discover Kedah 2016.
“BDB is confident of the participations by professional and amateur golfers in Malaysia and we hope that this can help raise the standard of Malaysian golfers.
“We also aim to promote DGCC as one of the best golf courses in Kedah, if not in the northern region as well,” he says.
Izham says the event can boost Kedah’s sports development, adding that the tournament may become an annual fixture at DGCC in the near future.
Firefly chief executive officer Ignatius Ong calls it a “perfect partnership that will trigger interest among golfers and holiday-makers”.
The winner and runner-up of the tournament will each receive return air ticket, a golfing package of 3 day 2 nights to any domestic or international Firefly routes. The third place winner will receive two tickets to any Firefly domestic destinations.
DGCC is also offering special practice rounds and hotel packages to give the golfers the chance to tour Jitra.
The BDB Hotels package, designed with golfers in mind, is offering rooms at RM98 per night that comes with nutritious breakfast. The practise round package is at RM50 per person.
