G Hotel hosts Ramadan breaking of fast

The G Hotel organized a break of fast gathering to host some 25 visually impaired individuals from the St Nicholas Home Penang as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative recently at their Taste Cafe.

Since Ramadhan, a holy Muslim month, is a time of inner reflection and self-discipline, this significant month teaches Muslims to practice self-control, sacrifice and empathy for the less fortunate.

In line with this spirit, the G Hotel team worked towards bringing great food and joyful moments to the visually impaired people.

The G Hotel team also expressed delight to see the smiles on these visually impaired people from the St Nicholas’ Home Penang when their caretakers and G Hotel staff assisted in serving them food.

Also present at the event were many departmental heads from the hotel.

G Hotel hopes to spread the festive cheer to the less fortunate people as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Before their departure, the G Hotel team distributed the ” green packet ” with duit Raya to the visually impaired people, bringing more cheer and the joy of celebrating the month of Ramadhan.

“Jamuan Berbuka Puasa for St. Nicholas’ Home Penang is only a small part of G Hotel’s effort in giving back to the community. G Hotel also implemented the GO Green Program to help conserve the environment, protect our earth and eradicate practices that destruct our habitat. Generally, these activities and practices are to raise awareness,”  said Director of Communications, Christina Tan.

She also added that as part of raising awareness in protecting our environment, G Hotel also organized numerous charitable events since the opening in 2007 such as donation for Save our Strays Penang (SOS), bathing the dogs at SPCA, buying Christmas presents for orphans, donation to old folks’ home, cleaning of Gurney Drive area, raising funds for the underprivileged, donating furniture to schools, organizing educational classes to instil five-star F&B and hospitality knowledge to children from some homes and schools in close proximity to the hotel.

“The objective of G Hotel organizing these charitable events at various non-profitable organizations are to engage hotel staff to participate, cultivate benevolence amongst the staff, enhance the skill of employees and strengthen their commitments at the workplace,” she added.

“Putting a smile on people’s faces is priceless. We care for the people who are visually impaired and we take personal interest in this programme.

“We wanted to feel a sense of closeness to the community, therefore we decided to spend our time and effort with the people of St Nicholas Home Penang,” said general manager Michael Hanratty.
