Health benefits in herbal Tea Bird Tea

Natural herbs are known to have healing properties which can help alleviate ailments and bring health benefits ranging from lowering cholesterol, indigestion, toxins, insomnia, liver detox, boost immune system and many more.

Initially founded in Australia, Balcony Bloomer is one such product promoting the use of natural products for the overall health of adults and children.

“We started in Australia with our Balcony Bloomer to grow herbs in the bag selling at farmer’s markets and online at www.balconybloomer.com.

“We are focused on targeting key health areas for customers and how they could grow their own herbs and vegetables while also benefiting from health benefits. Parsley freshens breath and is full of antioxidants, chives lowers cholesterol and full of antioxidants, basil promotes a healthy heart, coriander reduces inflammation in the joints and lowers cholesterol and mint for good digestion and eliminates toxins from the body.

“Other natural herbs which bring benefits are chill to increase metabolic rate, thyme for anti-ageing and to boost immune system while rosemary is good for relaxing and boosting your mood,” said Ashleigh Cotterill, the managing director of Balcony Bloomer.

She said as her business grew, many people asked her if they could grow their own tea. “While it’s a great idea it would take a long time to grow enough of a particular herb to reap the health benefits.

Ginger Snap to boost immune system

“So we launched Tea Bird Tea the following year focusing on delivering great tasting tea with great health benefits.

“Among them are Lemon Grass and ginger that are good to treat insomnia, Liver detox to purify the blood, Alkalizing to balance acid in the tummy, Colon Cleanse to remove waste from processed foods, Mint for digestion and water retention and bloating, Ginger to treat colds and boost the immune system, Vanilla Rooibus as an antioxidant booster, Frankincense to treat anxiety and stress, Green for slimming and Firecracker to sooth sore muscles and increase metabolic rate,” said Cotterill.

Initially, Balcony Bloomer supplies Tea Bird Tea at Village Grocer in Bangsar in September 2015 and now stocked it in over 30 supermarkets across Malaysia. Prices range from RM25 to RM30 for single pack purchases and RM80 to RM139 for larger packs.

Tea for liver detox

“Most of the packing and distribution is now done in Malaysia and we work closely with charities who pack batches of tea for us and label the packs.

“In this way, we also help those in need of assistance as the corporate social responsibility is incredibly important to us and we like to integrate charities into our operational process and sales output where we can,” she added.

Former beauty queen Deborah Henry is the brand ambassador who shares the same passion of helping the underprivileged and the company has set up the Fugee Schoool to help educate refugee children in Kuala Lumpur.

“One of the key reasons I wanted Deborah Henry as our ambassador is that we both have an aligned view when it comes to how businesses should be integrated into the local community so that everyone benefits.

“The first project we wanted to set up was the #1myrcharitea which means that from every single pack we sell every month, RM goes directly to Fugee School which is ongoing.

“Our next project to widen the focus on the great work the Fugee School does in providing education for all. There is a packaging design competition with Alice Smith International School and Fugee School where the students have drawn the design of birds for the new packaging and we will be filming the judging process for a TV show about Deborah’s life.

“These new packs will be on the shelf and we are really excited about these and are hoping they should be super colourful and fun for customers,” said Cotterill.
