Love is literally in the air every 14th of February as it is Valentine’s Day – a day that is synonymous with love and romance and for couples to profess their love to one another.

Back in the 3rd century, the Roman emperor named Claudius Gothicus banned his soldiers from getting married but a priest by the name of Valentine disagreed with his rules and married couples in secret. When the emperor found out, Valentine was tortured and beheaded. Before his death, he wrote a farewell letter to his loved one and signed it as “Your Valentine.” Since then, Valentine’s Day has been celebrated in honour of St. Valentine of Terni.
