With over 45 years of innovation that continues to shape the sound of modern music, Roland sets the standards in music technology for the world to follow.

Among their initiatives to introduce their latest products was the “Like A BOSS Tour” which was organised to spread the love of music and gear to key cities within Peninsular Malaysia.

Among the stops for the tour were Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang recently.

The showcase featured local guitarist Kelvyn Yeang (from the band Ocean Of Fire), acoustic loop artiste Isaac Ho, guitarist cum synth player LK Wong and an acoustic duo called Lemongrass which comprises of Kelvyn Yeang on acoustic guitar and the hot and sassy Annie Wong on vocals.

Their repertoire consisted of a mixture of original music and some well-known covers rearranged to suit the line-up.

Apart from the music, there were in-store product workshops conducted during the day for the most part. Annie featured the usage of the Boss VE-5 vocal effects unit that creates instant vocal harmonies, ambient effects and other strange sounds.

Kelvyn handles electric and acoustic guitar duties. Be it playing super-fast shred guitar to backing the singers on acoustic guitar, he does it all so swiftly whilst running an assortment of Boss effects pedals into the all new Boss Katana guitar amplifier that handles everything from acoustic jazz right up to metal.

LK Wong who is also the product manager with Roland Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd featured on his electric blues style of playing through a compact guitar multi effects pedal called the Boss GT-1.

Lastly, Isaac incorporated the RC-300 Loop Station pedal into his performances creating an instant one man band by overdubbing his vocals and acoustic guitar live.

The finale of the tour took place at The Canteen at China House in Penang with the musicians taking the stage with their gear to perform their music and jammed the night away.

Guests were seen being entertained to a variety of live music while tapping their feet in accompaniment.
