Run for a worthy cause

The Hard Rock Hotel Penang will stage its 7th edition of the Rock to Rock Run to raise fund for a nearby school.

The hotel hopes to raise about RM70,000 to pay for the cost of building a zinc roof over the assembly area in Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Ferringhi. The school was first established in 1909.

Presently, the school has 206 students, 23 teachers, four staff and seven classrooms in total. It does not have a field to conduct sports and other recreation activities. As such, the need for the zinc roof at the assembly area is vital for the benefit of the students.

Hard Rock Hotel Penang is praised for undertaking this corporate social responsibility (CSR) project by Chong Eng, the State committee chairman for Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development and Arts.

“The efforts taken by the Hard Rock Hotel Penang should be a model and a good example for other corporate firms and hotels to adopt and give something back to the community and society,” she said.

Hard Rock Hotel Penang is calling for entries. Only the first 2,000 runners who register on a first-come-first-served basis will be able to take part in the run to be held on May 21, 2017.

Registration fee for both the Fun Run (3.8k) and Competitive Run (10.2km) is RM75 each.

Registered runners will receive a Rock to Rock Run T-shirt, certificate of participation, medal and are entitled to a lucky draw.
