Arguably, the perfect spot for selfie is none other than Pulau Angsa where you can take a mirror image of yourself with the sky as your backdrop.

This spot is better known as the ‘Sky Mirror’ and because it is off-limit except during low tides, it is not always accessible. Seven days a month at low tides, that’s about it!

The Trip to Sky Mirror

The meeting point is outside the Burger King outlet at Jeram, Kuala Selangor. Fifteen minutes after the appointed time at 7.15am, we were ferried by cars on a 5-minute drive to a small jetty behind it.

Tour operators briefed us about the trip to Sky Mirror, which will take 30 minutes. We boarded the boat and it departed at 8.30am. As the boat leaves the jetty, I saw several species of seagulls along the mangrove river.

We soon arrived at Sky Mirror. To my surprise, stepping out of the boat and standing on Sky Mirror, it was like standing on frosted sheet of glass.

The spot at Sky Mirror is large and we were advised by the tour guide not to wander off too far as we were actually in the middle of the sea.

We were given 2 hours to hang around and to take pictures. Other visitors were also busy clicking away with their cameras. The guide passed out colourful umbrellas that we used as props.

Looking down on the black sands, we found a whole new world; lots of sea snails and sea urchins. So be very careful with every step you take. There were a few small crabs too!

When the allotted time was up, the sun was up in the sky and everyone started for the boat. Snacks and drinking water were served on board.

How to Get There?

Advance booking and upfront payment are needed to secure a seat in the speedboat that can hold 20 for the journey to the spot that is hard to find as it has no marking in the wide expanse of sea off Kuala Selangor.

Tour operators know it by heart the spot that at low tides exposes a wide swathe of black sand beach that is covered by a thin layer of sea that is no higher than your ankle.

The trip costs RM 80 for MyKad holders and RM60 for children, and RM100 for non Malaysian adults and RM80 for non Malaysian kids. The fare includes travel insurance, drinking water, snacks and speed boat trip to and back from Sky Mirror.

Booking can be made through a message to the Facebook page of SkyMirror Tour and Travel Sdn Bhd or whatsapp to 0192666665 (ask for Mr Lim).
