It’s time to go Mediterranean at the Batu Feringhi beach. From Beef Keftedes to Greek Salad, guests at the Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La have it all this month, thanks to award-winning Italian chef Fabio Polidori.
Polidori has been teasing every palate with his 17 signature dishes at the Sigi’s Bar & Grill. Apart from the beef and salad, hotel guests and gourmands have a choice of Pondicherry or Chickpea Soup, followed by homemade Potato Gnocchi Pasta or Rigatoni Norma.
The chef, who is in Penang on the invitation of Golden Sands, will surely tickle the taste buds with his Risotto, which is served with scallop or mushroom.
For the main course, diners will be spoilt for choice. On the menu are Harissa Salmon Steak, Australia Beef Loin, Seabass Fillet, Affumicato Pizza or Moroccan Lamb Tagine. Dessert options include Panna Cotta Mont Blanc and Classic Tiramisu or Blueberries.
For those who just have to try everything, Polidori has introduced his exquisite four-course tasting set dinner menu.
To complement each dish is a selection of wine.
The chef also conducts an exclusive cooking demonstration for his signature pizza at Sigi’s Bar & Grill.
Polidori, currently the executive chef of Shangri-La Hotel in Qingdao, in Shandong province, China, began his culinary journey in his mother’s kitchen where he began helping her from a very young age. He gave her a hand in shaping meat and cooking Parmesan Tortellini, Tagliatelle, Ravioli and other Italian cuisines.
With a wealth of experience spanning 23 years under his belt, Polidori has enjoyed a successful career at distinguished five-star luxury properties in Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
His creativity and culinary skills have won him numerous awards and accolades, including “Chef of the Year Award 2015” in Shanghai from Grand Hotel Media Magazine and the TV programme, You are the Chef.
