Amirul said the capsules range from single, twin sharing and an all-female floor to cater for different needs of guests.

Container Hotel

Container Hotel has 45 rooms at a renovated corner shop house located at the junction of Lebuh Chulia along Weld Quay near the ferry terminal. This pod premises has infused heritage into modern contemporary living right in the buzzing inner city.

The pods come in the form single, twin sharing and also all-female category respectively with a mix of classic heritage style.

Opened officially in 2015, the hotel has received its bookings mainly from college and university students, locally and abroad.

Its supervisor Marco Goh said business remained brisk especially for group bookings.

“Students from various parts of Malaysia like its cosy interior and recommend their friends to stay.

“Our location is within walking distance to various heritage and historic sites in the core and buffer zone of George Town heritage enclave, making us a preferred accommodation option for visitors,” he said when met.

Goh said foreign backpackers had also opted to stay at the hotel due to the convenience to go for walkabout tours in the heritage enclave.
