A carnival like atmosphere prevailed when a total of 25 food trucks converged in the compound of the Vouk Hotel Suites in George Town over a weekend recently.

The food trucks offered everything from local delicacies like Penang Laksa, Char Keow Teow, Rojak, Roti Jala, Satay, Cendol, Cucur Udang, Popia, Mee Sotong and Pasembor for the hundreds of people who gathered there.

Long queue of people of all ages were seen at the food trucks which have become one of the new attractions in the island better known for its hawker food.

Vouk Hotel management hosted members of Penang Cheshire Home, Children’s Protection Society and Gan En Zhi Jia Bhd (Home For Senior Citizens) as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the event which started at 3pm.

Proceeds of sales at the event totalling RM3,500 were donated to The Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang.

“We want to raise awareness and hopefully create some momentum so that more people will join in to help the needy,” said hotel chef and organising chairman Abdul Wafi Abdul Malik.

Vouk Hotel chain has eight hotels in Danok in Thailand and one resort in Bali (Indonesia) offering a total of 700 rooms in all of its properties.
