Asian creativity will take centre stage when Ipoh hosts yet another fashion extravaganza from Nov 9 to 11. The second International Ipoh Fashion Week 2018 (IIFW) will feature designers and models from China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal, Japan and South Korea, as well as from Malaysia.
The three-day gala will open with a charity dinner, dubbed “Night of Glamour and Glitter”, in aid of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun. The event will be held at the ballroom in the Syeun Hotel.
Prices for the opening night charity dinner are RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,500 per table of 10. Those who want to be there just to witness the runway show will be charged RM30 each.
At a press conference and model casting recently, IIFW patron Dr Nomee Ashikin Mohammad Radzi urged the people, especially corporates, to lend their full support for the event. “This is part of our corporate social responsibility effort,” she said.
Dr Nomee, who was accompanied by her husband, Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, said at least 500,000 babies were born in Malaysia each year, with 40,000 of them in Perak. “Up to 12% of them are born prematurely and require intensive care,” she added.
“Partner with us to make miracles happen in the lives of these children and their families,” she said.
The evening of glamour and glitter will be followed on the second night with a showcase of Islamic fashion, modern cultural fashion and a hair avant-garde at the same venue.
The grand finale, to be held at the Lost World of Tambun, will feature Prêt-à-Porter (ready-to-wear), swimwear, safari and resort-theme fashion displays. Attendance at this showcase is by invitation only.
According to Louis Sebastian, founder and chief executive officer of IIFW, international performer Vic Teo, who is currently based in Taiwan, will provide the entertainment for the opening night.
He expects the event to attract more tourists to Ipoh.
The IIFW will be sponsored by the Perak state government, Universiti Teknoloji Mara (Perak branch), Syeun Hotel, Lost World of Tambun, Aidil Travel and Tours, Where2 Magazine, Rentak Sejuta, Selebriti Online and Trinity Entertainment, among others.
