Coming up: International Ipoh Fashion Week 

The inaugural International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW) 2017 is set to kick off in grand style with more than 30 designers showcasing their creations with 30 models from several foreign countries.

The participants will be from South Africa, Kazakhstan, China, Laos, Cambodia, Pakistan, India, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.

Five professional models from South Africa will also feature on the spectacular runway at the three-day event from Oct 6 to Oct 8, 2017.

The curtain raiser grand dinner will be held at the Syuen Hotel in Ipoh entitled “Night of Glamour and Glitter” hosted by Tourism Perak.

On hand to launch the Ipoh Fashion Week was Datuk Mohd Kamil Shafie, the chairman of Tourism Perak Management in a ceremony attended by more than 120 guests.

Among the major sponsors are Perak Tourism, Syuen Hotel, Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS), where2 Travel & Lifestyle magazine, Khal Hair Salon Sdn Bhd, Silver Kreatif Sdn Bhd, Maya’s, 7Days Flower and Hairdressing Skills Development Association (HSDA).

Proceeds from the extravaganza will be channelled to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh’s Paediatric Care Unit as part of the organising committee’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort.

IIFW CEO Louis Sebastian expressed relief that the long and tedious work over the last year had finally borne fruit during his opening address.

“We will finally see the reality of the auspicious event in Ipoh and the convergence of international models and designers coming from all parts of the world.

“The closing ceremony will be held at the Movie Animation Park Studios where a unique Pret-a-Porter (ready-to wear) fashion showcase will be held,” added Louis.

Meanwhile, Datuk Dr Amar Singh, the Head of the Paediatric Department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun conveyed his gratitude to the organising committee.

“It is comforting to see that the private sector is mindful to help children who are struck with debilitating diseases,” he said.
