For those who remember popular 80’s singer Zainal Abidin, here’s a chance to meet him in person and also catch him render his hit number – Hijau – at the Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa’s “FIP Got Talent” showcase finals on Sept 10, this year.

The evergreen singer will also head the panel of judges for the finals this time around.

Zainal Abidin is the of the judges for the talent event at Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa , Penang.

Due to its continue popularity and the success of last year’s “FIP Got Talent” showcase, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, is holding the event for the second year running.

“This year promises intense competition among up and coming singers across the country. Only 36 contestants will be selected from the three elimination rounds comprising three heats scheduled on July 30, August 13 and August 27.

“The grand final offers a twist to the standard singing competition format. Every solo or duo are required to perform a song of their own choice and a second song later as a duet.
“Each duet partner will be picked randomly at the end of the third heat, so competitors will have ample time to prepare themselves before the grand final,” said Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman, the resort’s Director of Communications.

Zainal is credited for his iconic songs such as Hijau, Ikhlas, Orak Orek and Kau Di Hatiku will do a solo performance during the finals.

Zainal has released 17 albums in his musical career including six when he was with the popular 1980’s band ‘Headwind’, four solo albums, as well as several singles.

FIP Got Talent Competition is open to members of the public and has proven to be the most anticipated singing competition organised by the resort.

Since it was successfully launched last year, the event has attracted many young talented singers to take part.

The grand finale will have 12 entrants of a mixture of solo and duet vying to be crowned champion, first and second runner-up.

Judges will look out for vocal quality, pitch and tone, stage performance and costume.

“The upcoming competition that will showcase singing prowess is set to further elevate the profile and status of F.I.P. Lounge as a cutting edge entertainment hub for discovering new talents in Penang,” added Suleiman.
