Hard Rock Hotel Penang was honoured by CSR Malaysia as the “Company of the Year” (Hotel category) for going the extra mile to reach out to needy communities and engage in sustainability endeavours in efforts to create a better Malaysia.
All winners from the various industries were selected based on the authenticity of their philanthropy initiatives, their creative implementations and frequency of initiatives held and the significant impacts created from the initiatives in support of the local community.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur recently and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who is also the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.
Some 450 corporate personalities and foreign dignitaries attended the event.
Hard Rock Hotel Penang was one of the 35 listed and private companies in Malaysia being honoured.
Present to give away the awards was CSR Malaysia Award chairman Datuk R. Rajendran and its co-chairman/managing editor Lee Seng Chee to Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s executive assistant manager Michael Smeeton.
“It is our first time to have been recognised by a CSR awards programme. Hard Rock Hotel Penang lives up to its motto “Take Time To Be Kind” and prides itself in organising approximately six philanthropy campaigns a year to support the local community.
“The hotel is committed to donating a hundred per cent of the profit generated from the campaign to selected NGOs that support underprivileged families and individuals,” adds Primmer.
Among the annual philanthropy initiatives organised by Hard Rock Hotel Penang were the Rock-A-Duck, Rock to Rock Run and the Pinfest Rockers’ Meal.
The inaugural Rock-A-Duck 2017 campaign raised RM50,000 for Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Persekutuan, a school for hearing impaired, a zinc roof to provide shelter for students to assemble and perform their daily recreational activities.
The current running Rock-A-Duck 2018 campaign aims to support SJK (C) Poay Wah.
