For those who have not witnessed a traditional “tulou” or a traditional communal Hakka residence can now experience being inside one of them by visiting the main foyer area of the Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas.
The whole area has been transformed into a house of the olden era with a circular configuration as tall as three-storey high.
One will also be transported into a Hakka village complete with well wishes trees and wishing fountain in the compound.
Added to this are the wooden windows overlooking the foyer and the main entrance.
The auspicious colour of red has been used generously to promote the Lunar New Year to bring abundance, prosperity and longevity to visitors.
They will also be greeted by traditional drum performance, duo mask changing performance along with traditional Qi Lin dance performance and Chinese orchestra performance.
Chinese New Year which is also known as the Spring Festival normally brings the best out of malls and shopping centres have been decked with vibrant colours and decorations to welcome shoppers and guests.

As a run-up to the big day, several interesting activities have been lined up.
Among them are the kuih kapit making competition, Chinese orchestra performance, Lion dance acrobatic performance, Dragon dance performance, Chingay acrobatic performance and 5 Element drum performance.
The activities will be on every weekend till Chop Goh Meh which falls on March 2, 2018.
