The circus is in town. Russia’s renowned Moscow Circus is on its first tour of Malaysia – one that will take it to 10 cities in the country over a period of eight months.
Fresh from thrilling audiences in Petaling Jaya, the circus will stage two series of shows in Penang from Sept 13 to Oct 21.
Its first shows will be at the Queensbay Mall car park in Bayan Lepas from Sept 13 to Sept 30 before the big top is moved to Prai Auto City for its next stint from Oct 6 to Oct 21. The fully air-conditioned tent has the capacity for 2,700 people.
Fans, particularly children, can look forward to death defying acts such as high-wire walks and Russian swing acrobats as well as juggling acts by Semian Krachinov, high octane roller skating by the Romanov Duo and mind-boggling illusions by the Moskalov Duo. It will be hosted by ringmaster Karina Peace.
The Moscow Circus, which does not use animals in its acts, has a history that dates back a century. The performers, who have staged their acts all over the world, have been picked from two other renowned Russian circuses – the Bolshoi Circus, also known as The Moscow State Circus, and the Nikulin Moscow Circus.
Tickets, priced from RM50 to RM280, can be purchased on www.proticket.com.my. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
The circus is produced by Kenneth Lee who has vast experience in the Royal London Circus while working with his late father Paul LB Lee and Victor Pilipovich from Russia.
The circus will next perform in Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Johore Baru, Batu Pahat, Ipoh, Kuantan and Klang.
