Sunway Lagoon celebrates Merdeka with “Proud to Be Malaysian” theme

To mark Merdeka and Malaysia Day this year, Sunway Lagoon has lined up a multitude of exciting activities for visitors to the amusement park.

Silat performance and demonstration.

There are cultural dance performances, silat workshops and a flag hoisting ceremony. Visitors will also get to play traditional games such as congkak, sepak raga and batu Seremban to instil the spirit of patriotism by celebrating the country’s rich cultural diversity.

And if you are a Merdeka baby, a mystery gift awaits you. Visit the amusement park on 31 Aug and flash your myKad at the ticketing counter to claim your gift.

The month-long celebration was launched on 17 Aug with the unveiling of “One” – the 7 Bison sculpture by Infantino Fernandes that signifies unity. The festivities will continue till 16 Sept.

Apart from the games, visitors will get to see special performances such as the art of pouring teh tarik and tossing roti canai – both of which are Malaysian favourites.

The young ones can get some art on their skin with a limited edition “Proud to be Malaysian” temporary tattoo.

Every week until 9 Sept, foodies will get to participate in the Man vs Food: 61 Sec challenge to see how fast they can gobble down their noodles and other fare. Food junkies can take part in the Malaysia Bazaar Bingo card game to win cool prizes.
