It was truly a night of opulence, decadence and idealism à la The Great Gatsby when corporate figures gathered at the ballroom of the Light Hotel recently.
Some 200 guests came dolled up in vintage white suits, beaded gowns, ostrich feathers, tassels and pearls in keeping with the theme of the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The ballroom was also adorned with 19 classical chandeliers in black and gold.
It was the hotel’s inaugural Corporate Appreciation Night.
The evening began with a cocktail before hotel general manager K. Raj Kumar ushered the guests into the ballroom for a night of fun, laughter and entertainment. There were party games, dance performances and a lucky draw.
In addressing the guests, who also included executives from various government and non-governmental agencies, he told them that this was the Light Hotel’s way to show its appreciation for their continued support.
“We also appreciate your feedback, which has helped us to improve our service to you,” he added.
Kumar also took the opportunity to introduce the many heads of department to the guests. They included Indrra Devi (human resources manager), Veera Prabu (executive assistant manager front office), Lee Boon Kae (director of food and beverage), Siti Fatimah (director of marketing and communications), Jessica Chan (director of sales & marketing), Sivaji Selvan (director of business development), Segaran Ramalingam (maintenance manager) and Fred Saw (executive assistant manager of operations and finance).
