Fisherman’s Wharf : An Irresistible Draw

Things are looking up and tasty at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club’s Fisherman’s Wharf – a place for business, leisure, pleasure and food – with new tenants opening their businesses.

By now, with the new restaurants and shops come a unique and multi-cultural culinary experience that will appeal to a broad spectrum of visitors from around the world.

All restaurants on the Wharf are open daily throughout the holiday season! Fisherman’s Wharf Langkawi brings to you; Sugar Daddy’s Ice Cream & Gelato, Hugo’s Pizza & Sunset Bar, Lapaq Ayaq Cafe a Malaysian Cuisine, Chef de Formosa a Taiwanese Noodle House, Starbucks, Trinidad Cigars, Tailor, The Bottle Shop, Seafarer’s Convenience & Souvenir Store, and Take Time Frozen Food Store.

They join Charlie’s Bar & Grill (formerly Charlie’s Place Bar & Restaurant), Jake’s Charbroiled Steaks and Scarborough’s Fish and Chips to make up a wide variety that is sure to whet your appetite.

Charlie’s Bar & Grill

Charlie’s place, which overlooks the marina from the lower ground floor and the earliest to reopen with a new look, is good for food and drink, and to hang out by the sea, watch boats arriving and leaving, or to catch some sports on overhead TV screens.

Claypot Noodles and Wings

For a Bar and Grill called Charlie’s, diners unfamiliar with the place will expect the usual steaks and burgers. While it does serve fantastic beef and chicken burgers, the menu also features Malaysian dishes for the main course. The local fare is wonderful. Popular ones among patrons include its Chinese-style Claypot Noodles made of dry egg noodles, vegetables, prawns, chicken and egg in delicious hot and thick gravy.

Beef Rendang

The classic Malay dish Beef Rendang – made of tender beef simmered in coconut cream and local spices, and served with steamed rice – is another favourite. Diners can really taste the ‘santan’ (coconut milk) in the meat.

Ox Tail Soup

There are also other classic Malaysian favourites like chicken satay, chicken curry and char koay teow. Also popular are Arabian dishes like the Mixed Grill of lamb chop, beef kafta, chicken and beef shish kebab with pita bread, Turkish rice, Taziki salad and hummus dip; and the Mediterranean Mezze Set appetiser that comes with pita bread, hummus, mushroom antipasti, and feta filled filo pastry.

The opening of other food outlets will certainly make the wharf a food destination and spoil visitors for choice.

Other businesses that have taken up lots at the wharf include yacht charter companies Dream Yacht Charter, Langkawi Yacht Broker, East Marine Diving, Naam Cruise, Asia Pacific Superyacht, Seasplash, Intelmarine and travel agent Pic a Place.

After massive redevelopment at the club, the Langkawi Yacht Club Hotel opened for business in May with 44 rooms that respectively offer the view of the sea, hill or courtyard from the top floor on level three.

The wharf’s location at the seafront, with its modern decor and view of the marina, is also ideal to hold events like weddings and private parties. Visitors will also find regular weekly activities at the wharf like cultural, music and dance shows.

The Fisherman’s Wharf is a 150m walk from Jetty Point and 500m walk from The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa and the new St Regis Langkawi.
