The NGO, which shifted office last month, now have a better working environment to continue its work to protect the rights of marginalised and vulnerable women and children who have no voice in this globalised world.
It received 41 items consisting of two round tables and a foldable table, three armchairs, four executive chairs and 19 wooden chairs including two refrigerators and 10 dustbins.
Anne Katherine, Shelter Coordinator of Tenaganita is glad to have the support of G Hotel to continue with its work.
“We have been in Penang for three years since Nov 1, 2014 and we have finally moved into an office last month together with four other staff and some volunteers.
“We are grateful to G Hotel for the furniture. We hope to receive financial support and transportation to help the needy,” said Anne.
Tenaganita is dedicated in assisting, building, advocating and protecting migrants, refugees, women and children from exploitation, abuse, discrimination, slavery and human trafficking.
G Hotel is donating the used furniture after completing a RM35 million renovation early this year with a brand new furniture and facilities in all rooms, function rooms, grand lobby and Food & Beverage outlets.
Its guest rooms feature United Kingdom’s Camerich lifestyle furnishings, Serta Royal Platinum Mattresses, Herman Miller designer work chairs, 55-inch smart HD LED TVs, and free non-alcoholic minibar, as well as the lobby and lounge that has been replaced with Italian designer furniture from Minotti and Porada.
The hotel’s housekeeping manager, Shahril Seman, together with four staff transported the used furniture from the hotel to Tenaganita premises.
“We’re just doing a small part of contribution to the society and we know that Tenaganita needs moral support and financial aid to carry out its work to promoting and protecting the rights and dignity of all women, migrants and refugees,” said G Hotel general manager Michael Hanratty.
G Hotel also donated the used furniture to Ru Yi Children’s Home Penang and SMK Convent Pulau Tikus.
