Star Wars brought to life in a one-man show

Fans of live shows will have the rare opportunity to witness two exciting shows to be hosted by Milestone Production at two venues; The Wembley – St. Giles Hotel Penang and Tech Dome Penang.

The critically acclaimed Broadway comedy parody “One Man Star Wars Trilogy” by Canadian Charles Ross is on April 22 at the The Wembley St. Giles Hotel from 8.30pm while “Dr Balloon Science Adventure” by Becky Kitter will be held on May 21 at the Penang Tech Dome.

Both shows will be performed in Penang for the first time and they are held in conjunction with International Day of Families.

The live show will showcase Ross doing spot-on-impressions of 40 characters from the first three Star Wars films (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of The Jedi).

The result of Ross’s obsession with Star Wars (he had watched the films for 400 times) is the creation of his hilarious and ingenious play. Armed with a light saber on his wit, Ross single-handedly plays all the characters with spot-on voice impressions, who sings to the music, flies the ships and fights the battles.

His show has been endorsed by Lucas Film and approved by George Lucas himself. The show lasting 75 minutes is written and performed by Ross himself.

This production has played to audiences across the globe from London’s West End, Off-Broadway in Dubai and the Sydney Opera House in the past 16 years.

“The shows will also provide an opportunity for the family to bond over wholesome entertainment especially in today’s internet era where gadgets are ever encroaching into family time,” said Milestone Production managing director Grace Lee at a press conference at the Tech Dome Penang in Komtar.

Present at a press conference to announce the shows was State Tourism Development and Culture Committee chairman Danny Law and Tech Dome Penang chief operating officer Dr Khong Yoon Loong.

Balloonatic Becky Kitter, who hails from United Kingdom, will showcase her masterful balloon skills which will feature a treasure trove of learning and discovery for the whole family at Tech Dome Penang for three hours from 2.30pm onwards on May 21.
