Top-notch indoor theme park opens at KOMTAR

The iconic Kompleks Tunku Abdul Rahman (KOMTAR) underwent a RM200 million facelift and the result is Penang’s first and largest indoor theme attraction with 14 other types of attractions and 11 Food and Beverage outlets.

Named The [email protected] Komtar, the attractions include the first in Penang “Window of the Top” that includes a Rainbow Skywalk on Komtar’s rooftop on Level 68 rooftop and an Observatory Deck on Level 65 and both offers magnificent panoramic views of the ever beautiful Georgetown city.

It’s an apt place for the young and young at heart as learning continues with attractions like Jurassic Research Centre and Tech Dome Penang.

While Jurassic Research centre speaks for its name and exploration on different species of dinosaurs, Tech Dome is a science discovery centre where all the Physics and Biology are re-learnt in the most fun way possible.

Besides that, Tech Dome has expanded to astronomy section and gamers’ zone which is a must see and must play.

The [email protected] is also proudly hosting Asia’s first 7D Discovery Motion Theater.

Top Boutique Aquarium, Magic Mirror Maze, Tongkat Ali King, Dino Gym, and Musical Carousel are some of the other attractions that can be found at The [email protected]

The F&B outlets include fine dining restaurants called Top View Restaurant & Lounge on Level 59, Grand Imperial Restaurant, Umi restaurant, rooftop’s Coco Cabana Bar & Bistro and Chocolate Passion.

The grand launching was officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz who represented Deputy Prime Minister YAN Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Present were Chief Minister of Penang Lim Guan Eng, Chairman of Only World Group (OWG) Dato’ Dr. Tengku Rethwan bin Tengku Mansor, Founder and CEO of OWG Dato’ Seri Richard Koh and Group Chief Operating Officer of OWG Dato’ Jean Koh.

Nazri said The Top will not only provide an additional reason for local and international tourists to put Penang on their must-visit list but also become a key contributor to the state’s economy.

“With the opening of The Top, the stage is set for the revitalization of an important icon and tourist destination and, ultimately, the nation’s socio-economic development,” he said.

Lim said the incredible transformation of KOMTAR symbolizes the rebirth of a new Penang.

“Here, we witness KOMTAR rises again,” he said.
